Thomas Croxton was mentioned in the 22 October 1750 will (proved in 1757) of his father John Croxton. At that time Thomas had had no children. He was to receive the land he lived on, given by a contract at his marriage. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 11, pages 40–41.]
On 30 June 1753, Thomas Barker, aged 57, deposed that a marriage contract was designed between Thomas the son of John Croxton and Susannah the daughter of James Boughan. That James Boughan agreed to give his son in law a Negro Boy Charles, but an arguement ensued. The issue was settled when James Boughan and Thomas Croxton exchanged Negroes, John Croxton receiving Winney buy paying £10. Then the deponent was sent for to write up James Boughan’s will and he left out Winney. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 26, page 286.]
On 30 June 1753, Ann Barker, aged 57, deposed that she was with her brother James Boughan at the time of his death, that three hours before his death he called for his wife and Thomas Croxton and Susannah his wife to make sure the exchange of Charles was satisfactory, and all agreed. On 4 July 1753, John Farguson, aged 68, deposed that he was with James Boughan at the time of his death. That James Boughan had called for his daughter and son-in-law Susannah and Thomas Croxton before his death to make sure that they were satisfied with the slave Charles, and that the £10 paid in exchange for the slave Winney was to go to the land purchased of Christian Baker. On 16 June 1755, Thomas Croxton and Susanna his wife of the County of Essex and Parish of Southfarnham sold to Samuel Croxton of the same. For £25 current money, 32 acres more or less, bounded by the land of Mr Frances Boughan, Mr Thomas Roane, Mr John Farguson and Mr John Croxton. This land was a piece of land of John Croxton Senr formerly purchased of Joseph Man and his wife. Dated 16 June 1755. Signed John Croxton, Susanna Croxton. On 18 October 1757, Johanna Croxton, John Croxton, Ambrose Wright, Thomas Croxton and Samuel Croxton were bound £500 current money for Johanna Croxton’s and John Croxton’s execution of the last will and testament of John Croxton. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 11, page 42.]

On 17 June 1771, a division of the remaining estate of John Croxton deceased was recorded.
