On 22 September 1724 Richard Tyler and Susanna his wife of South Farnham Parish sold 93 acres for 5 shillings to their daughter Mary the wife of James Boughan. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 18, page 1]
Mary Boughan was mentioned in the 4 December 1732 will of her father Richard Tyler: To beloved daughter Mary Boughan a good suit of Cloaths at the Discretion of my beloved wife Susanna Tyler. The will was proved on 21 May 1734. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 5, pages 264–266.]
On 12 November 1747 James Boughan Jr. [son of Mary Tyler] purchased 93 acres for £30 from Thomas Barker. This is land Thomas Barker had purchased from James and Mary Boughan [this Mary], which was land that had been given by Richard Tyler to his daughter “now the wife of James Boughan Senr.” [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 24, page 200]
On 18 July 1748, James Boughan and Mary his wife of the Parish of South Farnham sold to Bryant Edmondson of Caroline County. For £70, 200 acres, the land whereon James now lives, bordering the lands of the said James Boughan, John Smith, and Boughans Mill. Signed James Boughan and Mary her M mark Boughan. Mary Tyler is mentioned in the will of her husband James Boughan. The will is dated 28 November 1748 and was probated 21 March 1748.
On 28 April 1750, James Boughan of Essex County made an agreement with his brother Aristippus Boughan. In consideration of a right of reversion in issue of slave Hannah given by Richd Tyler in his last will and testament to Mary Boughan, mother of James and Aristippus. James has already sold some issue and now gives two of Hannah’s issue to Aristippus. Signed James Boughan, Aristippus Boughan. Witnesses: J Tyler, James Scott, Wm Crow. Recorded 15 May 1750. On 16 July 1754, Mary Boughan, the mother of Aristipus Boughan, came into to court to acknowledge a deed from Aristipus Boughan to James McCall for land that was formerly that of James Boughan. [Essex County, Virginia, Deded Book 27, page 28.]
Mary Boughan was mentioned in the 21 October 1761 will of her brother Richard Tyler, who requested that his executors pay annually to his sister Mary Boughan £3. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 11, pages 386–389.]
