The estate of John Edmondson in account with James Edmondson from 1774 to 1778 was settled by James Jones, Geo. W. Smith and Richard Banks junr and recorded on 18 June 1792. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 14, page 316.]

The will of Richard Banks Junr. of the parish of South farnham and County of Essex. Weak and low in bodily heath. Just debts to be paid, and executors may sell lot in the Town of Tappahannock for that purpose. To beloved wife Elizabeth Banks during her widowhood, the use of whole Estate for the support of her and my two children, Mary Banks and Elizabeth Young Banks. If she remarries, then one third part of my estate during her natural life, the use of the other two thirds to be applied to the support of my children, and at her death my estate to be equally divided between my two children. My wife Elizabeth Banks to be executrix, and friends James Jones and John Richards executors. 19 February 1792.

On 21 July 1793 presented in court by the executrix named therein and proved by M C Clements and William Harwod and George W Banks, whereupon a certificate was granted to the said James Jones in order to his obtaining probate.

On 21 January 1793, James Jones was named executor of the last will and testament of Richard Banks, Jr.; James Jones and Richard Banks acknowledge their bond in the penalty of one thousand pounds. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, page 12.]

On 21 August 1809, administration of the estate of Richard Banks Junr. was granted to Samuel Muse; James Jones, executor, is deceased. Samuel Muse and Lawrence Muse acknowledge their bond in the penalty of $12,000. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, page 12.]

On 21 August 1809, Samuel Muse, Laurence Muse, and John Haile Junr were bound in the penalty of $12,000 for Samuel Muse’s administration with the will annexed of the goods, chattels and credits of Richard Banks junr unadministered by James Jones deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 130–131.]

Accounts of the estate of Richard Banks, deceased, in account with James Jones, administrator, from 1792 to 1812 was ordered recorded on 19 October 1812. Includes payment on 16 May 1796 “for moving Mrs. Banks & family to K&Q”. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 418–428.]

The estate of Richard Banks, deceased, in account with Samuel Muse from 1810 to 1819 was settled on 29 January 1819, with equal distributions to Saml. Muse, Eliza S. Banks, and Wm. L. Waring. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, pages 28–30.]

On 22 January 1814, a division of the slaves belonging to the estate of Richard Banks, deceased, was made by Jno. Smith, Newman Brockenbrough, and W. Blake, to Elizabeth Banks, Polly Banks (also listed as Mary Banks), and Samuel Muse (who married Elizabeth Banks). On 29 January 1819, this was further acknowledged by Eliza S Banks and Wm L Waring.
