On 19 September 1720, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Erasmus Allen was given by David Scott, John his E mark Gatewood, James Griffing and John Haile. Total £30.2.2 plus two negroes not counted. Dinah her D mark Allen and John Allen executors. Ordered recorded 18 October 1720. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 3, pages 213–216.]

On 20 November 1722, Richard Holt stated in a deposition: “This Deponant Saith that the Spanish Oake Stump that he Shew’d to David Scott & Thomas Burk his Father told him about thirty years agoe was the Corner tree between Hugh Meeds & Robert Staulsey & himself & then it was brook down to a mans hight & then his father & Robert Haulsey with Each Others Consent mark’d a Small red Oak Corner Near that Stump which is their now Standing and further Saith not”. Signed Richd Holt. “At a Court held for Essex County on Tuesday the 20th day of November 1722 Richd Holt this day made Oath to his Affidavit which on the Motion of Martin Nall is admitt’d to record”. David Scott received a bequest in the 21 November 1722 will of Thomas Magrah of South Farnham Parish, Essex County. He also witnessed the will. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, page 5.]

On 18 December 1722, James Gatewood, John Gatewood and David Scott were bound £100 sterling for James Gatewood’s execution of the last will and testament of Thomas Magrah. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 5–6.]

On 18 September 1728, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Martin Nalle was made by David Scott, Richd. Gatewood, and Thomas Burnett, and returned by Mary Nalle and ordered recorded on 19 November 1728. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 274a–275a.]

On 11 July 1729, John Ennis and Betty Ennis acknowledged receipt of Nine pounds forteen shillings & One penny from Mary Nall out of the Estate of Martin Nall Decd. Signed Jno. his + mark Ennis, Betty Ennis. Witnesses: David Scott, Richd. Jones, Richd. Gatewood. Ordered recorded on 15 July 1729. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, page 301.]

On 11 July 1729, Thomas Dillard and Winifred Dillard acknowledged receipt of Nine pounds fourteen Shillings and One penny from Mary Nall out of the Estait of Martin Nall Decd. Signed Thos Dillard, Winifred her + mark Dillard. Witnesses: David Scott, Richd. Jones, Richard Gatewood. Ordered recorded on 15 July 1729. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, page 301.]

An appraisal of the estate of Samuel Waggener was made by David Scott, James Gatewood, and Thos Gatewood. No total. Returned by Christina her C mark waggener adx. Ordered recorded 18 November 1729. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 314–316.]

On 20 Janaury 1731, David Scott witnessed the will of Henry Boughan. Signed David Scott. He appeared in Essex County court on 16 May 1738 to prove the will. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 6, pages 121–122.]

On 22 March 1748/9, a case was continued in court of John Gatewood, Henry Gatewood, John Farguson and Sarah his wife which Sarah is a Daughter and Legatee of Amy Baker deceased, Thomas Arnold and Frans his wife which said Frans is a Daughter and Legatee of Amy Baker decd, David Scott and Amy his wife which said Amy is one of the Daugthers and Legatees of Amy Baker decd, against Thomas Gatewood and James Gatewood Executors of Amy Baker decd. It was ordered that Thos Edmondson Thomas Wiatt James Jones William Roane Gentlemen or any three of them settle the defendants accounts of administration of the estate of Amy Baker deceased and make report to next court.
