Mary was mentioned in the 24 September 1784 will of her father, Thomas Dix, proved 16 February 1789. “I give to my Grand children Betsey & Richd. Thos. Haile children of my eldest daughter Mary by her Husband John Haile ... ” She was not listed among Thomas’s “Ten Children”, so she may have died before the writing of the will. Mary Dix is mentioned but not named in the 1787 will of her father-in-law Richard Thomas Haile, who willed that his land was to go to his son John during John’s life, and then to Richard Thomas Haile, but that John’s wife was to have dower rights to the land.
