On 15 May 1737, Rachel Purkins witnessed a deed from John Casten to Thomas Newbell. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 21, pages 279-280.]
Rachel Griggs was mentioned in the 21 September 1738 will of her father Henry Purkins of the County of Essex. She was to receive one shilling, but her Lawfull issue were to receive one-fifth of the estate. The will was proved on 17 April 1739. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 6, pages 171–172.]
Rachel was not mentioned in the 6 January 1759 will of her husband John Griggs.
