Attended from 21 April 1908 to 24 September 1908, last seen on 24 September 1908. Died at 10:30 a.m. First cause of death was cerebral haemorrhage, apoplexy, duration 2 hours. Contributing cause of death was chronic interstitial nephritis, duration 5 months. Physician was J F Hempel, MD. Buried at Mount Carmel Cemetery on 27 September 1908. The death book at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland, entry #13810, states that Charles Schmidt was buried 27 September 1908, was born in Germany, died age 63 years 4 months, lived at 909 East Chase Street, died of nephritis, was married, and was buried in lot 119 U in the northwest corner of the lot.

A death notice stated: SCHMIDT.—On September 24, 1908, at 11 A.M., CHARLES SCHMIDT, aged 63 years 4 months and 12 days, beloved husband of Mary Schmidt.

An obituary stated: CHARLES SCHMIDT.
The funeral of Mr. Charles Schmidt, who died on Thursday, took place yesterday afternoon from his home, 909 East Chase street. Services were conducted by Rev. H. Steimke, pastor of Emmanuel German Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
The pallbearers, who are members of the Musical Union, were Messrs. L. Rosenberger, Frank Feldman, August Schoolmeyer, Charles Bladin, Edward Moffett and H. Ernste.
The funeral was attended by many members of the Musical Union and the Teutonia Sick Benefit Association. Itzel’s Band, of which Mr. Schmidt was formerly a member, played in front of the house before the body was taken to the cemetery. [The Sun (Baltimore), Monday morning, 28 September 1908, page 8.]
