James Fullerton was mentioned in the 21 March 1677/8 will of his father James Fullerton. At that time he was not yet 16. [(Old) Rappahannock County, Virginia, Will Book 2, pages 83–87.]

On 10 August 1702, James Fullerton and Sarah Fullerton of the County of Essex sold to Alexsander How of the County of Gloster. For £42 sterling, 300 acres of land in the County of Essex and in the parish of Southfarnham, bounded by the main forke off Piscatoway pocoson, it being parte of a grater Sepeton[?] of Land that wase granted to my ffather James ffallerton by Paten baring date the 20 day of Septemb 1667. Signed James Fullerton, Sarah Fullerton. Witnesses: Tho: Pettit, James Boughan. [Essex County, Virginia, Deeds and Wills 10, pages 116–117.]

On 10 November 1702, James Fullerton and James Boughan witnessed a deed from Joshua Nason of the Parish of St. Stephens in the County of King and Queene to Henry Kerby of South Farnham Parish in Essex County, and witnessed a bond from Nason to Kerby of the same date. [Essex County, Virginia, Deeds and Wills 10, page 121.]

On 12 November 1702, John Pickett, James Boughan, and James Fullerton were bound £200 sterling for John Pickett’s guardianship of William Picket, orphan of Henry Picket. Witnesses: Edw: Gouldman, Erasmus Allen. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 10, page 126.]

On 3 January 1706/07, Leonard Chamberlin, John Gaimes, James ffullerton and Wm Johnson made an inventory of the estate of John Gatewood. Ordered recorded 10 March 1706/1707. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 12, paes 366–368.]

On 9 April 1709, James Fullerton witnessed a lease from John Pickett of the County of Essex, planter, to Richard Wise of the County of King & Queen, gentleman, for an island of 80 acres in Piscattaway Creek. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 9, page 216.] On 11 April 1709, James Fullerton witnessed a release for the same land. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 9, pages 216–217.]
