On 7 August 1750, Henry Evans & Sarah his wife of the parish of Southfarnham in the County of Essex, planter, sold to Waters Dunn of the same, Merchant. For £36 good and Lawfull Money of this Colony, a parcel of Land Which was given me the sd Henry Evans by my Father Thomas Evans deceased as May Appear by his Last Will and Testament, Containing by Estimation One hundred Acres More or Less Scituate in the Parish & County afsd: bounded by the lands of John Seayers, Thomas Davis deceased, and James Evans formerly Thomas Evans. Signed Henry Evans, Sarah her + mark Evans. Witnesses: WmU?Davis, Sils: Tandy, Maxamilian Davis, Thos: Bevin, Ambrose Jones, John Boughan. On 7 August 1750, memorandum of delivery by Turff & Twigg. On 21 August 1751, Waters Dunn & Sarah his wife of the County of Essex and parish of Southfarnham told to Torkel McLeod of the same. For £48 Currant Money, a parcel of 96 acres scituate in the aforesaid County of parish it being that part of Land Left by the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Evans late Deceased to his Henry Evans and purchased by the said Dunn. bordering land lately purchased by John Seayres of William Winston. Signed Waters Dunn, Sarah Dunn. Witnesses: JWJones, Wm Dunn, J Tyer. Memorandum that the land was delivered by Turff and Twigg. Sarah Dunn privately examined and gave consent. On 20 November 1751, Thomas Gatewood of the County of Essex, planter, appointed Waters Dunn of the said County, Mercht., his Attorney to receive all Debts which may be due and also to discharge all debts from him to any person. Signed Thos. Gatewood. Witnesses: HYoung, Charles Atkinson. On 20 November 1751 ordered to be recorded. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 25, pages 290–291.]

On 7 December 1751, John Chamberlain of the County of Essex and Parish of Southfarnham sold to James Gatewood and Water Dunn of the same. For £290 current money, 250 acres. Signed John Chamberlain. An inventory and appraisal of the estate of Mrs Dinah Allen was given on 17 December 1751 by Forest Upshaw, Waters Dunn and John Latane. Total £96.16.2. Ordered recorded 21 January 1752. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 9, pages 136–137.]

On 22 April 1752, John Ball, Joseph Burnett and Waters Dunn were bound £500 for John Ball’s administration of the goods, chattles and credits of John Ball deceased. Signed John Ball, Joseph Burnett, Waters Dunn. Ordered recorded 22 April 1752. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 7, pages 167a–168.]

On 26 May 1752, a warrant was issued for John Burnett, John Boughan and Waters Dunn. [Essex County, Virginia, Box No. 201, Folder A, loose paper.]

On 21 July 1752, Waters Dunn of Essex county in southfarnham Parish sold to Nathaniel Pendleton of the same four Negroes (Viz) Moll Lilly Rose & Tom for and in consideration of the said Pendletons being Bound with John Burnett Senr to John Latane to sec Mr Ninian Boog (Merchant in the County of King & Queen) paid for a Certain Parcel of goods which ye said Boog credited the said Dunn for to the amount of Two Hundred & thirty Pounds currt money which Money being well & Truly paid by the said Dunn to the said Boogso as that the said Pendleton is Kept safe & harmess from Paying any Part or parcel thereof & from being sufferer on my acct of becoming such security That then the above mortguage to be void and of none Effect. On 28 October 1752, Waters Dunn of the County of Essex sold to John Edmondson and William Dunn of the County of Essex. For £300 current money, seven Negroes named Moll, Lilley, Rose, Tom, Violet, Jemmy, and Bacckus, together with their future increase, together with household furniture and cattle, Provided always and it is hereby agreed by and between the said parties that if the sd Waters Dunn do at upon or before the first day of may next ensuing the date hereof will & truly pay or Cause to be paid unto the said John Edmondson & William Dunn the aforesaid Sum of Three Hundred pounds current money of Virginia, and that Waters Dunn shall be in the actual possession of the sd Slaves and all the aforementioned premises. On 16 and 17 February 1756, Waters Dunn witnessed a lease and release from John Wiley and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Essex to Thomas Bridgforth of the same. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, pages 193–195.]

In February 1757 (day left blank), John Allen late of the County of Essex and Parish of Southfarnham appointed Waters Dunn his attorney to collect from the estate of Richard Armstrong. On 19 April 1758, Waters Dunn was mentioned in the will of Joseph Greenhill of the County of Essex. He was to receive Joseph’s “waring apprel”. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 11, pages 116–117.]

On 20 November 1761, William Dunn Senr. & Winnifred his Wife and Waters Dunn of the County of Essex, Planters, sold to William Roane of the same, Attorney at Law. For £150 Current money of Virginia, a Tract of Land whereon the said William Dunn and his wife now Dwells Containing by Estimation One hundred and seventy five Acres more or less, and also all that Tract of Land containing by Estimation One hundred and Fifty Acres whereon the said Waters now lives, Situate lying and being in the County aforesaid & in the Parish of Southfarnham and also the Ten following Slaves (to wit) Jacob, Landiff, Violet, Alick, Lucy, Lilly, Jacob, Will, Rose & Tom. On 11 October 1765, Thomas Callaway and Mary his wife of the County of Halifax and Colony of Virginia sold to Waters Dunn of the same. For £40 Current money of Virginia, a Tract of Land in the County of Essex, bounded by the Land formerly belonging to Silvanus Tandy on the one side and on the other side by the Land of one Henry Crittendin being the plantation and Land whereon Joseph Callaway formerly Lived Containing by Estimation 97 acres. Signed Thos. Callaway, Mary Callaway. Witnesses: Wm. Dunn, Winifred Jones, Richard his R mark Dunn, Asirtips. his x mark Boughan. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 30, pages 58–59.]

On 24 June 1767, Waters Dunn of the County of Pitsylvania sold to Winifred Dunn of the County of Essex. Whereas William Dunn late of the said County of Essex by his last Will and Testament devised the Land whereon he lived to his son William Dunn to be delivered at the death of his wife the said Winifred and his slaves to his Son Henry and his daughter Alice also to be delivered at the death of the said Winifred and whereas it is supposed the said Land and slaves will descend to the said Waters Dunn as eldest son and heir at Law of the said William Dunn deceased during the life of the said Winifred whereby the said Winifred would be left unprovided for and whereas the said Winifred hath assigned and made over to the said Waters Dunn all her right title interest and property which she hath or may claim of in or to sundry lands and slaves under the Will of John Waters her Father and the said Waters Dunn is more over willing and desirous to make neceesary provision for the support of his said Mother Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Waters Dunn for and in consideration of the premises as also for and in consideration of the Sum of Five Shillings Current money to him in hand paid by the said Winifred Dunn hath given granted assigned made over released and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant assign make over release and confirm unto the said Winifred Dunn all the right Title Interest claim property or demand whatsoever of him the said Waters Dunn as son and heir at Law of him the said William Dunn deceased of in or to the Tract of Land and appurtenances in the County of Essex where the said William Dunn lately lived and whereof he died seised and also of in or to the several Slaves and other estate so as aforesaid by the said William Dunn deceased devised to the said Henry and Alice Dunn at the death of the said Winifred To have and to hold. On 31 March 1779, Waters Dunn and Sarah his wife of the County of Henry sold to William Gatewood of the County of Essex. For £115 current money of Virginia, a Tract of Land in the Parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex adjoining the lands of Henry Allen, Leah Edmondson, Archibald McCall & Piscataway Church Containing by Estimation 150 acres more or less. Signed Waters Dunn, Sarah Dunn. Witnesses: Jno Lane, Wm. Dunn, Caleb Gatewood. On 20 September 1779 proved by the witnesses and ordered to be recorded. On 19 April 1791, Wheeler Haile brought suit against Waters Dunn: Your orator Wheeler Haile. That sometime in he and Waters Dunn exchanged watches, and in the deal Waters Dunn was to pay £9 difference, which he did. But Wheeler Haile being a carpenter “was going to work a considerable distance out of the county” and applied to William Dunn not to pay him the £9 but to give him security to pay £6, etc. Filed on 19 April 1791.
