The death of Mrs. S. M. Moore, widow of the late Judge Moore occurred Friday afternoon at the home on W. Van Buren street. She had been in poor health for some time, and
passed away at the ripe old age of 82 years, 11 months and 22 days. She had had a long residence in Centerville, coming here with her husband in 1859, and here their family was reared. Both Mr. and Mrs. Moore were a fine type of people, living devoted Christian lives, and standing for high ideals in the community. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the late home, conducted by Rev. J. A. Gledinning and burial was at Oakland cemetery. The pall bearers were W. C. Martin, W. Augustus, W. C. Bitner, J. A. White, J. I. Ong and Milt Allburn.
Mary J. Pendergast was born April 11, 1831 in Ripley county, Ind. She came with her parents to Keokuk and Dec. 25, 1852 was married to Samuel M. Moore. They came to Centerville in 1859. He was honored with the position of county judge and in other ways during his life time, he died March 15, 1906. She leaves her children Addison and Irvin Moore and Mrs. Alice K. Lane, of this city, and Wm. C. Moore, of Carthage, Mo. Her son Charles died recently. She also provided a home for her neice, now Mrs. W. H. Ogle, of Colorado Springs, and her grand daughter, Mamie Moore, now Mrs. Hultgren, of Galesburg, Ill.
Her son William could not be present for the funeral on account of sickness in the family. Her sister, Mrs. Michael Thomas, nephew Otto Thomas, of Seymour. Mrs. Pendergast,
of Jerome and Miss Carrie Pendergast of Seymore and Mrs. Maude Moore Hulgren of Galesburg were here a sister, Mrs Anna Smith, in Des Moines, was unable to attend. Mrs.
Lulu Moore Ogle, of Colorado Springs had recently visited her. Her granddaughter, Mrs. Glen Haynes received word too late to come.
