William Fisher was mentioned in the 18 May 1824 will of his father, William Fisher, proved 17 January 1825. “I give to my son William Fisher the plantation he lives on & all the other property he has in his possession except Charles & John, I also give him workman Sam, old Milly, & long Sam with all future increas from the negroes he has in his possession … My four children named in this will to wit Sukey, Rebecca, William & Waller are all to give there mother forty dollars a pease yearly as long as she lives, she must have gigg & horse, & bed & furniture should she want them—, all the rest of my estate not named in this will I wish sold to help pay my debts should it be insufficient then my will is that my four children Sukey, Rebecca, William & Waller may pay equally untill all just debts are paid of lastly I appoint my executors Richard Motley, Benja H Munday jr., William Fisher & Josiah Waller Fisher”. On 17 January 1825, Richard Motley, Benjamin H. Munday Jr., William Fisher, Benjamin H. Munday, Sr., and Edmund F. Noel were bound in the penalty of $20,000 for the joint executorship of Richard Motley, Benjamin H. Munday Jr., and William Fisher on the estate of William Fisher, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, page 101.]

William Fisher was mentioned in the 29 May 1827 will of his grandmother, Frances Jones, proved 21 September 1829. He was named an executor. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 26.]

On 21 September 1829, William Fisher renounced his right of executorship of the estate of Frances Jones, whereupon on the motion of Josiah W Fisher, the other nominal exeuctor, a certicate was granted him in order to his obtaining probate. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 26.]

On 21 September 1829, Josiah W Fisher and William Fisher were bound in the penalty of $6,000 for Josiah W Fisher’s executorship of the estate of Frances Jones, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 27.]

On 18 July 1831, William Fisher and Josiah W. Fisher were bound in the penalty of $6,000 for William Fisher’s administration of the estate of Ewen Clements, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 310.]

On 22 February 1833, a deed of trust was executed between George Taylor of the first part, George H Dobyns of the second part, and William Fisher of the third part, all of the County of Essex and State of Virginia. Whereas the said Taylor is justly indebted to the said Fisher $375.85 by bond bearing date with this Indenture, and whereas Taylor is willing to secure, for $1 paid by the said Dobyns to Taylor, Taylor assigns right title and interest in a tract containing 292 acres more or less, bounded by the lands of William S Croxton and others lying in the County of Essex, purchased by Taylor of Doctor Thomas C Gordon, but Taylor shall remain in quiet and undisturbed possession lf the land until default. If Taylor on or before the first day of May next fail to pay $375.85 with legal interest, the tract to be sold to satisfy the debt, the surplus if any restored to the said Taylor. On 21 September 1835, Richard Motley, Benjamin H Munday, Laurence Roane and George Wright were bound in the penalty of $100,000 for Richard Motley’s administration of the estate of William Fisher, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, page 410.]

On 9 November 1835, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Capt. William Fisher, deceased, was made by Was: H Purkins, Chas Bray, and John P White. Including Julia Ann and three Children to wit Joe Peggy and Henrietta; Caty and Richard Children of Charloote; Julia and her children to wit Cynthia John, Charloote Henry and an infant not named; Old Man Liberty; Boy Henry; Eliza; Girl Martha; Phoebe; Adam; Killis; Ryburn; Daniel; Philip; Dennis; John; Flora (Woman); Lawson; Richard; Frances; Lavinia; Clary and child Polly; Rhoda & child; Arthur; Child Moses; Isaac; Mary; Rebeckah; Charlotte; and Old Sam & Milley. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, pages 158–160.]

On 15 January 1838, Richard Motley, as administrator of the estate of William Fisher, deceased, sold Negroes belonging to the estate. To William P. Taylor: Boy Philip, Girl Rachel, Frances and child about 8 mos. old; to Robert H. Harrison: Dennis; to George Wright: Sam Kellis; to James C. Clopton: Daniel; to Achilles Lumpkin: Martha; to Mr. Malichote [?]: Eliza. Total valuation $5,326.00. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 276.]
