Robert Dobbyns was mentioned in the 8 February 1810 will of his father-in-law, John Montague, proved on 21 May 1810. “… as a mark of my perpetual displeasure at the conduct of my daughter Victoria in runing away with Bob Dobbyns I give and devise to her and her heirs for ever the sum of one Shilling Sterling which is all I hope she ever will receive or enjoy out of my Estate …” [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 169–171.]
Robert Dobbins was to be executor of the 19 May 1815 will of his mother-in-law, Mary Montague, but by the will was proved on 18 September 1815 he was dead. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 207–208.]
