On 19 June 1699, Mary Newball and Thomas Hawarton were bound 20,000 pounds of Tobo: & Caske for Mary Newball’s executorship on the estate of James Newball, deceased. Signed Mary her M mark Newball, Thomas Hawarton. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 9, page 341.]
On 20 June 1699, Its ordered that Mary Newbell be paid out of ye estate of Patrick Jackson deced in ye hands of Mr Benj Games his admor after ye rate of one thousand pds of tobo: pr year for keeping & Maintaining ye sd Jacksons orphan Child. [Essex County, Virginia, Order Book 2, page 154.]
