On 10 July 1703, John Haile of the County of Essex, son of heir of Captain Richard Haile deceased, sold for 2,000 pounds of tobacco to John Loving of Essex County a tract of 100 acres lying partly in King and Queen County and partly in Essex County that had been granted as part of a patent to John Haile’s father Captain Richard Haile. Rent of one year of Indian Corn at the feast of St. Michael if demanded. On 20 April 1724, John Haile of Southfarnham Parish released to John Edmondson of Southfarnham Parish. For 1,600 pounds of tobacco and cask, John Haile releases land in Essex and King and Queen Counties on Mattapony and Hoskins Creeks, 100 acres (same as above), formerly belonging to John Haile, all right title and interest. And 200 acres formerly in dispute with James Boughan deceased. Signed John Haile, Mary her M mark Haile. Witnesses: Richard Dudley, Peter Dudley. Recorded 20 April 1725. On 17 December 1739, land was valued at the request of James Boughan. On the petition of James Boughan, it was ordered that George Wright, John Hail and John ffarguson or any 2 of them lay of[f] and value an acre of John Picketts (Pucketts?) land opposite James Boughans to build a mill on. The will of John Haile of the County of Essex and Parish of Southfarmham was dated 17 August 1744: In the name of God Amen I John Haile of the County of Essex and parrish of Southfarnham Being in good health of Body and Soul and of perfect mind and memory praise be therefore Given to Almighty God do make & ordain this my Last will and Testament In manner and form following that is to say) [sic] first and principally I Commd my soul in to the hands of almighty God hoping through the Merits death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon of all my Sins and to Inherit Eternal life and my body I commite to the Earth to be Decently Buried at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as touching Such Temporal Estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and Dispose thereof as followeth First I will that my debts and funeral Charges shall be paid and Discarged [sic] Item I lend unto my well beloved wife the use of all my Real and personal Estate During her life or widowhood and after the decease of my now wife or at the day of her second Marriage to be Equally Divided amongst my Six children now Liveing named as followeth Vizt Francis Haile John Haile Thomas Haile Benjamin Haile & Mary Edmondson Susanna Allen Item I Constitute and appoint my well beloved wife and my Beloved son John Haile full and wholly Executors to this my Last will and Testament Item I do hereby Revoke Disanul and make Void all former wills and Testaments by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I the sd Jno Haile to this my Last will and Testament have Set my hand and Seal this 17th day of Augst in the year of our Lord 1744
