On 18 February 1755, a memorandum was recorded, witnessed by a Benja Haile, that William Bennett had given his daughter Isbell a slave Pheby. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, page 95.]
Benjamin Haile was mentioned in the 22 April 1769 will of his father-in-law John Farguson. Benjamin and his wife Katharine were to receive a negro girl Winney. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 12, pages 82–83.]
About 1791, Benjamin Haile brought suit against Mark Ball and Caty his wife: Nestor Ironside lessee of Benjamin Haile by John Warden esq. complains of Isaac Buterstaff. That Benjamin Haile on 1 January 1786 let unto Ironside the remainder of a tract purchased of Elizabeth Haile by Thomas Haile late of the county and parish [Southfarnham] except for one part conveyed by Thomas Haile to Mark Ball and Caty his wife.
