On 17 October 1758, an appraisal of the estate of Joseph Greenhill was given by Benja Allen, a William Edmondson and John Davis. Total valuation £232.15.5-1/2. William Dunn executor. Ordered recorded 17 October 1758. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 11, pages 134–135.]

On 17 March 1766, Constance Edmondson deposed that when her son William was married, that his father Thomas Edmondson gave him a slave. The same day, Susanna Allen, aged 56 years or thereabouts, deposed that the day William Edmondson married his present wife that his father gave him a slave Philis. Witnesses to both depositions: Frans Waring, John Upshaw. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 4, item 4-H-2.]

On 1 December 1768, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Ambrose Armstrong was made by Benja Waggener, Nathan Waggener and a Wm Edmondson. Total £53.4.0. Archibald Ritchie administrator. Ordered recorded 17 April 1769. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 12, pages 357–358.]

The will of William Edmondson of Essex County was dated 4 January 1774. Lends to loving wife estate and after her death the land upon Daingerfield’s Mill Swamp is to be sold and money divided amongst my three brothers Phill, James, Thomas and my sister Judith Mann. To sister Judith Mann negro Phillis. Wife to be executrix with William Roane, John Rennolds and John Edmondson Junr. Signed William Edmondson. Witnesses: John Edmondson Junr, Augustine Moore, Ewen Clements, Thomas Edmondson Junr. Proved 18 April 1774. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 12, pages 582–583.]
