Amelia was mentioned in the 8 February 1810 will of her father, John Montague, proved on 21 May 1810. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 169–171.]
Amelia was mentioned in the 19 May 1815 will of her mother, Mary Montague, proved 18 September 1815. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 207–208.]
In 1831, orators and oratrices George M. Hundley and Mary E. his wife, Henry L. Carter admor of Anthony Thornton decd, Hannah B. Montague, Edwin Hundley and Virginia F. his wife, and the said Edwin Hundley as admor of William M. Jesse deceased and John A. Jesse an infant by the said Edwin Hundley his next friend complained to the Chancery Court of Essex County. That John Montague died testate, leaving slaves to daughter Amelia. That Amelia first married one Wm Montague by whom she had your orators and one Lucy B. Montague who married Charles S. Thornton. Then William Montague died and Amelia married Thomas Jesse and they had sons John A. Jesse and Wm M. Jesse and died on about _______ 1830, and shortly thereafter Thomas Jesse died. Wm Jesse died an infant in 1831 Administration of his estate was granted to Edwin Hundley. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 38, item 38-E-1.]
