On 2 February 1705/06, Martin Nall witnessed a deed from James Boughan of South farnham parish in the County of Essex Gent. sold to Richard Holt and William Holt of the County aforesaid, planters. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 12, pages 163–165.]

On 9 January 1713/14, James Boughan of the Parish of South Farnham in the County of Essex, in consideration of the Sume of seven thousand pounds of every way well qualifyed sweet scented Tobacco and Cask paid by Martin Nalle of the aforesd: Parish and County sells a certain parcell or Tract of Land containing one hundred ninety four acres the ninety four being entered for Queens Land by the said James Boughan last Yeare the other hundred falling by Birth Right, unto ye said James Boughan after the decease of his ffather the said one hundred ninety four Acres of Land lying and being in the the parish and County aforesd: and bounden as followeth Begining at a small Gumb standing in a Swamp formerly called Gregors Swamp and Standing in or near the NorthWest Line of Joseph Bakers Land and runing thence along the said Joseph Bakers Line South East 116 Poles to a Corner white Oak and red Oak on a Hill thence runing South 85 degrees East 24 Poles to a Corner white oak thence South South East 130 Poles to the Main Road that leadeth from Piscataway Ferry to the old Mill and along the said Road the Severall Courses thereof to a Corner Red Oak standing by the Road Side thence North North West 114 Poles to a Corner Hickory standing in the said Martin Nalles Tobacco Ground thence North 33 Degrees West 123 Poles to a Corner white Oak of the said Martin Nalles standing near the aforesd: Swamp thence down the Swamp to the aforementioned Gum the beining. On 9 January 1714, James Boughan of the Parish of South Farnham in the County of Essex was bound unto Martin Nalle of the Parish and County afooresd: in the sum of fourteen thousand pounds of every way well qualifyed sweet scented Tobacco as security for the deed of the same date. On 23 January 1715/16, an inventory of the Orphans Estates belonging to Andrew Hardee decd. was made by Jon. Games, Martin Nall, Tho: Sthreshley, and Jno. Chamberlain. On the motion of Thomas Wheeler, ordered recorded on 20 March 1715/16. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 14, pages 513–514.]

On 21 May 1717, William Hudson, Martin Nalle, and Thomas Moore were bound £500 sterling for William Hudson’s executorship of the last will and testament of Richard Brazier. Signed Wm his W H mark Hudson, Martin Nalle, Thomas Moore. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 14, page 47.]

To all Christian People Wee send Greeting Bet [sic] it remembered & kept in Perpetuall Memory that Whereas Richard Kemp & Elianor his Wife being Possessed in ffee of a tract of land formerly granted by Pattant unto Hugh Mead the said Richard & his wife did by one deed of Gift Recorded &c in Essex County give unto Mary & Katharine Aldyn the said Elianors two Daughters all the said tract of land Containing 200 Hundred Acres More or less Now know ye that the said Mary now wife of Martin Nalle & her said Husband & the said Katharine now wife of James Sames all of the parish of Southffarnham in the County of Essex afforesd have & by these presents do by one Consent agree & Oblige themselves to Severe the Joyntennacy And by Equally deviding the Same the said Devision line runing S5E from a red Oak by a Swamp between Richard Gatewood & this tract to a red Oak in the last line To which Agrement we Oblidge our Selves heirs Exers & Admrs Each & Either of Them firmly by these presents As Wittness our hands & Seals this fifteenth day of October 1722. On 20 November 1722, Richard Holt stated in a deposition: “This Deponant Saith that the Spanish Oake Stump that he Shew’d to David Scott & Thomas Burk his Father told him about thirty years agoe was the Corner tree between Hugh Meeds & Robert Staulsey & himself & then it was brook down to a mans hight & then his father & Robert Haulsey with Each Others Consent mark’d a Small red Oak Corner Near that Stump which is their now Standing and further Saith not”. Signed Richd Holt. “At a Court held for Essex County on Tuesday the 20th day of November 1722 Richd Holt this day made Oath to his Affidavit which on the Motion of Martin Nall is admitt’d to record”. In the name of God Amen the ninth day of Aprill I Martin Nall of the County of Essex & Parish of south farnham being very sick & weak but in Perfect sence & memory Praise be given to the Almighty God for the same knowing the uncertainty of this Life of Earth do make & appoint this to be my last will & Testament revoaking all other wills by me formerly made and do make & appoint this to be my last will & Testamt. In manner & fform following that is to say first & principally I commend my Soul to God my Creator & Redeemer hoping that I shall be saved by the Precious death and merrits of Christ and my body to be decently buried as my Execrs hereafter named shall think fitt and for my wordly Estate as the Lord in his mercy hath bestowed on me my will is that it shall be bestowed as This my will is Expresst Item I give to my beloved wife Mary Nall a negro man named Bristoll during her natural Life Item I give to my beloved son John Naul ten acres of my Land & the Remainer [sic] part of my Land & give to my beloved son Martin Naul to them & their heirs for ever. Item I give all the remainer part of my Estate real & personall to be equally Divided among my Eight Children only my wife to have an Equal part of the Personal Estate for her Life and the Eight head of Cattle I lent to my son Jonhn and my daughter Winnifret to be in part of their portion and I do appoint my beloved wife and my Cousin Thomas Burke & Thos. Dillard my whole & sold Execrs of this my last will & Testament

On 20 August 1728, proved the oaths of the witnesses and admitted to Record. On 18 September 1728, proved by the Oath of Mary Nalle Executrix therein named. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, page 273.]

On 18 September 1728, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Martin Nalle was made by David Scott, Richd. Gatewood, and Thomas Burnett, and returned by Mary Nalle and ordered recorded on 19 November 1728. Total valuation £85.19.5, including livestock, 1 book called the Practice of Piety, 3 old Bibles, 3 hives of bees, 1 molatto Girl. “1 negro man named Bristol not praised”. On 11 July 1729, John Ennis and Betty Ennis acknowledged receipt of Nine pounds forteen shillings & One penny from Mary Nall out of the Estate of Martin Nall Decd. Signed Jno. his + mark Ennis, Betty Ennis. Witnesses: David Scott, Richd. Jones, Richd. Gatewood. Ordered recorded on 15 July 1729. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, page 301.]

On 11 July 1729, Thomas Dillard and Winifred Dillard acknowledged receipt of Nine pounds fourteen Shillings and One penny from Mary Nall out of the Estait of Martin Nall Decd. Signed Thos Dillard, Winifred her + mark Dillard. Witnesses: David Scott, Richd. Jones, Richard Gatewood. Ordered recorded on 15 July 1729. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, page 301.]

On 14 July 1729, William Frazer acknowledged receipt of Nine pounds fourteen Shillings & One penny from Mary Nale it being part of Martin Nales Estate Deceased. Signed P[er] me Wm ffrazer. No witnesses. Ordered recorded on 15 July 1729. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, page 301.]
