“Austin Brockenbrough, son of John & Sarah, was born October 9th, 1782.” [Brockenbrough Family Bible.]

Austin Brockenbrough was mentioned in the 19 November 1804 will of his father, John Brockenbrough. Sons John, William, Thomas, Arthur, and Austin. Beloved wife Sally Brockenbrough and sons Thomas, William, Arthur and Austin to be executors. Presented in court on 18 February 1805. Sarah Brockenbrough, widow, renounced her right of executrixship; Thomas, William, Arthur and Austin Brockenbrough renounced their rights as executors. Letters of adminstration granted to Thomas Brockenbrough. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, pages 336–340.]

On 16 April 1816, Thomas M Henley and Austin Brockenbrough were bound in the penalty of £200 for Thomas M Henley’s administration with the will annexed of the estate of Mace Clements, deceased, unadministered by William Newbill, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 276.]

In 1827, orator Austrin Brockenbrough, sheriff of Essex County and Committee of the estate of William Dunn D, deceased, complained to the County Court of Essex in Chancery sitting. That William Dunn departed this life intestate, and administration of his estate was granted to George Taylor, with Richard Dunn and Fontaine Wood his securities. Taylor was directed under an order of the court, made at the instance of Fontaine Wood, to execute a new bond for his administration, but failed to comply with the requisition of the said order, whereupon his administration was revoked by the court. Administration was granted to George W. Lee, the then sheriff of Essex, now deceased, and subsequently the administration of the estate was committed to the hands of your orator. When Taylor’s accounts were settled on 16 May 1825, they showed a balance of $307 with interest due to the estate. That George Taylor, Fontaine Wood and Richard Dunn maybe made defendants hereto. On 19 September 1831, Austin Brockenbrough was bound in the penalty of $145,000 for his executorship of the estate of Benjamin Blake, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 327.]

On 7 October 1831, sales of the estate of Benjamin Blake were made by Austin Brockenbrough, executor. Ordered recorded 16 October 1837. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, pages 207–214.]

On 18 July 1836, Austin Brockenbrough and William A Wright were bound in the penalty of $4,000 for Austin Brockenbrough’s adminsitration of the estate of Joseph B Hipkins. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 50.]
