An obituary in The Baltimore Sun stated:
Services for M. Anne Miller, a member of the Carroll County school board and a former teacher, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Little Baker Chapel at Western Maryland College in Westminster.
Mrs. Miller, who was 62, died Wednesday of heart failure at her home in Westminster.
She was elected to the school board in 1982 after retiring the year before as an art teacher at the Westminster Middle School, which was the Westminster Junior High School when she began teaching there in 1958.
On the school board, she was an advocate of fewer students per class, higher teacher salaries and of more money for programs for vocational students, for the gifted and the handicapped and for asbestos removal.
Before joining the junior high school faculty, she taught at the Franklin Senior High School in Reisterstown and at Western Maryland College.
The former M. Anne Moore was a native of Centreville and was raised in several Eastern Shore communities. She was a graduate of Western Maryland College and held a master’s degree from the Maryland Institute.
Her husband, Robert William Miller, was killed in action while serving in the Air Force in Korea in 1951.
She was a member of the Carroll County and state teachers’ associations as well as the National Education Association, the Maryland Association of Boards of Education and the Carroll County Retired Teachers Association.
In 1958, she was awarded a medal for her work by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Pa.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Hoff of Alexandria, Va.; two sons, Robert Miller of Farmingdale, N.J.; and Stephen Miller of Baltimore; a brother, Robert D. Moore of Houston; a sister, Jessie Moffett of Easton, and five grandchildren.
The family suggested that memorial donations be made to the Anne Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund for Art Education at the Carroll County Arts Council.
