Paul was mentioned in the 15 July 1796 will of his father, Paul Micou, proved on 17 December 1798. “4th. Having already amply provided for my son Paul Micou by Deed of Gift … 7th. That my meaning may not be misunderstood with respect to the ample provision whh. I have in another part of this my will said that I had made for my son Paul it is, that, my son Paul shall not inherit any part of my estate except that already given him by Deed of Gift bearing date the 31st day of May 1782 & recorded in the County Court of Essex, Reference being thereunto had, may more fully appear. — 8th. My son Paul having lived with me some years as the sole Manager of my business & our accounts laying in a confused & unsettled situation, it is my will & desire that my friends & neighbours, Mr. Wm Waring, Mr. Thomas Pitts & Mr. Robert Baylor make a settlemt. of the said accounts, and it is my earnest will & desire that my son Paul shall not be obliged to produce vouchers before the said Gentn. to establish his accounts, but that his word and, say so, shall be received as Valid testimony to the establishment of any Debit or Credit in the said settlement. — 9th. It is my Will and desire that my sons Paul & James Micou become guardians to my daughter Jane Micou without giving Bond or security for this undertaking. — 10th It is my will that my sons paul & James be my whole & sole executors to this my Will & that they be not required to give Bond & Security for the execution of it”. Presented on 17 December 1798 by Paul Micou Junior one of the executors named therein, and proved by Philip Gray and John H. Micou “and ordered to be certified and continued for further proof,” and a certificate was granted to Paul Micou Junior in order to his obtaining probate without taking bond. Paul Micou was mentioned in the 11 August 1798 will of his sister Catherine Micou, proved on 21 March 1814. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 1–2.]

On 30 July 1801, Paul Micou gave a deposition and stated that he was 42 years old. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 19, item 19-A-11.]

On 25 November 1812, articles of agreement were drawn up between Paul Micou who was executor of Paul Micou deceased of the one part, and John Micou, Jas. R. Micou, Catherine Micou, and Jane R. Micou, children and legatees of the said Paul Micou deceased, of the second part. Whereas the accounts of Paul Micou executor are unsettled, and there being still debts due from the estate, it is mutually agreed between the parties that Paul Micou shall take upon himself the payments of all debts in consideration of the said legatees of Paul Micou, deceased, discharging Paul Micou, executor, from all claims which they have against him. On 20 June 1814, Paul Micou and James M. Garnett were bound in the penalty of $10,000 for Paul Micou’s execution of the last will and testament of Catherine Micou, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 31–32.]

Paul Micou was mentioned in the 1 August 1814 will of his brother-in-law, John P. Lee, proved on 15 August 1814. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 58–59.]

On 16 July 1821, Paul Micou and John H. Micou were bound in the penalty of $8,000 for Paul Micou’s administration of the estate of Paul Micou Jr., deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, pages 218–219.]

The estate of Paul Micou Junior in account with Paul Micou, administrator, from 1821 to 1822 was ordered recorded on 20 July 1835. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, pages 378–381.]

The will of Paul Micou of Essex County was written 4 September 1821. Daughter Susan. Son John H. Micou. Children Albert and Felicia. Wife. Children of deceased son Paul: Mary Frances Micou, James Somervail [?] Micou, Stella Micou. Children Sukey, Hancock, Albert and Felicia. Daughter Maria and son-in-law John Micou, who have son William Arthur Micou and daughter Eleanor Micou. Signed Paul Micou. Witnesses: James M Garnett, John Beazley, James R Micou. Proved 19 March 1822 and 15 April 1822. Bond follows. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, pages 280–282.]

On 15 April 1822, John H. Micou, Wm. B. Matthews, John R. Matthews, Geo. W. Lee, Wm. A. Garnett, and Ben. H. Munday were bound in the penalty of $100,000 for John H. Micou’s execution of the estate of Paul Micou, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 282.]

On 24 April 1822, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Paul Micou was made by James M Garnett, Thos D Pitts, and Robt P Waring. Ordered recorded on 21 August 1826. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 21, pages 6–8.]

On 24 October 1843, Albert Micou of legal age provided an affidavit at the Courthouse. That he was well acquainted with the estates of Paul Micou and George W. Lee. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 49, item 49-B-12.]

A deed of 26 October 1846 mentions James H. Boughan and his wife Martha Ellen, daughter of John H. Micou whose mother was Mary, widow of Paul. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 48, page 191.]
