Samuel Farguson is listed in the will of his father John Farguson in 1715. He is described as being one of the two youngest sons. Samuel was to receive proceeds from the sale of the personal estate. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 3, pages 8–9.]
Samuel Ferguson was mentioned in the 5 November 1717 will of his brother Joseph Farguson. proved 19 March 1717/18. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 3, pages 10–11.]
On 20 February 1722, Daniel Brown of the County of Essex sold to Samuell ffarguson and Ann his wife of the same. In consideration of the “Love and Good Will that he hath for his Daughter Ann the wife of the aforesaid Samuell ffarguson” and for 20 shillings, a plantation or parcell formerly known by the name of ffrancis Browns, 100 acres more or less, that ffrancis Brown bequeathed to his wife during her life and then to Daniel Brown and after his Death to Ann the daughter of Daniel, now wife of Samuell ffarguson. Samuel Farguson was named an executor of the 1731 will of his mother Ann Farguson. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 8, pages 356–357.]
On 17 and 18 April 1734, Samuel Farguson, signing as Samll ffarguson, witnessed a deed of lease and release from John Nalle of the County of Spotsilvania and parish of St. Marks to Thomas Burke of the County of Essex and parish of Southfarnham. On 21 May 1734, John Nalle, James Farguson and Samuel Farguson were bound £100 sterling for John Nalle’s guardianship of Richd. Nalle, “and shall well & truly pay or Cause to be paid unto the sd Orphan all such Estate & Estates as now is or hereafter shall come to the hands of ye sd John Nalls as soon as the sd orphan shall attain to Lawfull age”. On 16 November 1736, Samuel ffarguson of the County of Essex and parish of Southfarnham, for Natural love and Affection, gave unto his beloved son Benjamin ffarguson of the county and parish aforesaid £60 to convey at the age of 21.
