On 18 November 1785, a division of the estate of Robert Edmondson was made to six legatees: Susanna Edmondson, Sarah Edmondson, Peggy Rowzee, Philip Edmondson, William Edmondson, and Milly Edmondson who married Scott Noell. Susanna is dead, her part to be split between the others. Made by William Rowzee, Wm Gray Ser, Thomas Collins, Hancock Lee. Recorded 19 December 1785. William Rowzee is mentioned in the will of his sister Ann Garnett in 1787. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 14, page 135.]
In the Name of God amen I William Rowzee of the County of Essex and parish of St. anns being in a Low state of Health But in perfect sences and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and Form as Followeth (to wit) First my will and desire is that the whole of my Estate be kept together under the care and directions of my Executors hereafter named till my son Edward arives to the age of Twenty Five years, and that the whole of my Children to be maintained out of the profits arising From my Estate till a division takes place. Item I give and Bequeath unto my Two sons Edward and John Rowzee all the land I now hold in my possession to them and the heirs of their Body forever to be Equally divided between them in quantity and quality and if either of them should die without Issue of their body then then surviver to have his part of Land. I also give unto my two sons Edward & John Rowzee the one half of my personal Estate to be Equally divided between them. Item I give unto my two daughters Eliza. Mosley and Fanny Rowzee the other half of my personal Estate to them and the heirs of their Body for Ever to be Equally divided Between them, if Either of my four Children should die without Issue of their Body, it is my Will and desire that part to be Equally divided amongst the survivers and further my will and desire that five years after a General division Takes place among my Children that my son Edward pay to his sister Eliza. Fifty pounds Curt. money out of that part of the Estate I left to him, also my son John is to pay to his sister Fanny Fifty Pounds Currt. money ouf ot that part of the Estate I left to him and further my will and desire is that if either of daughters should marry that they have a right to draw their part at any time. Lastly I appoint my son Edward and John Rowzee Executors to this my Last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have sett my hand & seal this 11th day of March 1798.

I William Rowzee of the County of Essex do make this Codicil to my last will now in the possession of Mr. Ralph Rowzee. First it is my will & desire that both my daughters Elizabeth & Fanny Rowzee should continue to live at my House after my decease so long as it shall be agreeable to them to do so, or untill their Marriage — Item I give to my said Daughter Elizabeth Rowzee & to her heirs in addition to all former bequests contained my will aforesaid, one negro Girl together with her increase called Milly Being the Daughter of Peggy. — Item I give to my daughter Fanny Rowzee and her heirs in addition to all former bequests contained in my Will aforesaid one Negro Girl together with her increase named Betsey Being the Daughter of Rose. — In witness of the above I have hereunto sit [sic] my hand & seal this 12th day of April 1799.

On 17 June 1799, presented in court by Edward Rowzee and proved by the oaths of Catharine Jones and John Robinson, and the codicil by the oaths of Wm. Baynham and the said Catharine Jones, and ordered recorded. Certificate granted to Edward Rowzee in order to his obtaining probate. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, pages 463–465.]
On 17 June 1799, executorship of the estate of William Rowzee was granted to Edward Rowzee. Edward Rowzee, Colo. William Waring, and Merriday Brown acknowledge their bond in the penalty of $20,000. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, pages 483–484.]
In obedience to an order of Essex June Court 1799, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of William Rowzee was made on 9 July 1799 by James R.
