On 18 September 1815, Tandy Dix, orphan of James Dix, made choice of Lewis Dix to be his guardian. [Essex County, Virginia, Order Book 42, page 58.]

An undated petition from orators and oratrices Thomas Dix, James Dix, Tandy Dix, Walter Dix, Addison Allen and Melissa his wife who was Melissa Dix and Catharine Dix states that James Dix died intestate, that Lewis Dix took administration of his estate, that Lewis then died and that Thomas M. Henley was appointed administrator de bonis non. Relations of the orators and oratrices not stated. The complainants, filing against Thomas M. Henley, sought the sale of the slaves from the estate, granted by decree on 16 December 1816. Catharine Dix was awarded one-third share as her dower right. In an undated petition, orators Thomas Dix, James Dix, and Walter Dix infant by Thomas Dix his next friend complained that Melissa Allen sister of your orators died in 1817 an infant without issue, leaving your orators and Tandy Dix only heirs at law. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 37, item 37-G-17.]

On 17 December 1821, Benjamin Blake and Tandy Dix were bound $200 for Benjamin Blake’s administration of the estate of John G. Johnson. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 261.]

On 11 June 1822, a marriage bond was taken out by Tandy Dix and Elliott Blake for the marriage in Essex County of Tandy Dix, bachelor, and Nancy Burke, spinster. [Essex County, Virginia, Marriage Register 1, page 329.]

On 11 December 1823, Tandy Dix, John Jones and Peter B. Davis divided the estate of Leonard Burnett. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, pages 24–25.]

The will of Tandy Dix was dated 26 March 1824. Mentions beloved wife Nancy Dix, mother Catharine Dix, daughter Lucy B. Dix. Friends Graves Burke and H. W. Latane executors. Dated 26 March 1824. On 21 June 1824, Graves Burke, Ephraim Beazley, John Crow and Moses Crow were bound $14,000 for Graves Burke’s execution of the will of Tandy Dix. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, page 59.]

On 21 December 1824, an inventory of the estate of Tandy Dix was made by Josiah Minter, John Jones and Richd Evans. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, pages 358–359.]

On 21 November 1826, Henry W. Latane and Warner Lewis were bound in the penalty of $3,000 for Henry W. Latane’s administration de bonis non of the estate of Tandy Dix, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 21, page 43.]

The estate of Tandy Dix, deceased, in account with Henry W Latane, administrator de bonis non with the will annexed, from 1827 to 1828 was ordered recorded on 19 January 1829. Includes “To this sum paid Mrs. Nancy Dix the widow of Tandy Dix decd on acct of her dower she having renounced the provisions made for her under his Will”. The estate of Tandy Dix, deceased, in account with Henry W Latane, administrator de bonis non with the will annexed from 1829 to 1831 was ordered recorded 19 March 1832.
