Ann was mentioned in the 1 February 1806 will of Mary Burke. “… I Give and bequeath to my beloved neice Lucey Burke Wife to Graves Burke, one negro Woman named Hannah and her increase to her and her heirs for ever, Also one Bed and furniture one Chest and one trunk 2nd I Give to Ann Burke daughter to Graves Burk and Lucy his Wife, one negro man named Phill, to her and her heirs for ever …” [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, page 92.]

Nancy Burke was mentioned in the 30 December 1817 will of her uncle, Townley Banks, proved on 16 February 1818. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 471–472.]

On 11 June 1822, a marriage bond was taken out by Tandy Dix and Elliott Blake for the marriage in Essex County of Tandy Dix, bachelor, and Nancy Burke, spinster. [Essex County, Virginia, Marriage Register 1, page 329.]

Nancy was mentioned in the 26 March 1824 will of her husband Tandy Dix. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, pages 58–59; Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 36, item 36-B-63.]

On 12 November 1824, Nancy Dix renounced the provisions of the will her late husband, Tandy, deceased. Signed Nancy Dix. Witnesses: Thos. Hoskins, Wm. A. Garnett. Ordered recorded 15 November 1824. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, page 91.]

The estate of Tandy Dix, deceased, in account with Henry W Latane, administrator de bonis non with the will annexed, from 1827 to 1828 was ordered recorded on 19 January 1829. Includes “To this sum paid Mrs. Nancy Dix the widow of Tandy Dix decd on acct of her dower she having renounced the provisions made for her under his Will”.
