“Mrs. Moore Taken at 89
Mrs. Lida A. Stone More [sic] of 509 East Maple Street, Centerville, passed away Monday evening, May 22 at 9:45 at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 13 days.
She was born on a farm near Plano, Iowa August 9, 1871 the daughter of Alfred C. and Anna M. Thurman Stone. She was married to Samuel Irvin Moore, June 25, 1890 in Centerville.
Surviving her are three children, R. Dillon Moore of Kansas City, Missouri, Rex Moore of Aurora, Illinois and Mrs. Cecyl L. Klepfer of Centerville, a grandson, Larry Klepfer of Evanston, Ill., two great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. James Adamson of Centerville and a nephew, William Kendrick of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Walter and Charley Stone and one sister, Mrs. Cora Kendrick.
She was a long time member of the Methodist Church acting as the president of most of its organizations; Past President of the Appanoose County Federation of Church and Teachers of Crescent Bible Class; 73 year member of the P.E.O. Society; Eastern Star; D.U.V.; M.X.L. Club and for years wa sa [sic] member of the Drake Ave. Library Board.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Johnson and Rev. DeWit Foster officiating. Burial will be i nthe [sic] Oakland Cemetery.” [Centerville Iowegian, 22 May 1961, page 2.]
