The estate of William Croxton, deceased, in account with Philip Croxton, administrator, from 1814 to 1828 was ordered recorded on 17 November 1828. Division of the remaining estate by Lawrence Muse on 15 September 1828 into equal fifths of $86.11-3/4 each to Richard Croxton, Isaac Croxton’s heirs, James Croxton Senr., Philip Croxton, and Ann Croxton who married James Croxton. Isaac Croxton left two children Harriett & Elizabeth. Harriett married Philip Brooks & is entitled to 1/2 of her Father’s portion & Elizabeth the other half. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 21, pages 323–325.]

On 3 February 1832, Richard Croxton and Susan Lumpkin (I the said Richard Croxton having intermarried with Francis G Ware the only child of Edward Ware deceased and I the said Susan being the widow and relict of the said Edward Ware deceased) acknowledge receipt of $283.86 from Winter Bray as part of the final settlement of the estate of Edward Ware, deceased. On 29 March 1845, Richard Croxton witnessed the will of William Beazley. By the time the will was presented in court on 18 November 1850, Richard had died. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 26, pages 618–619.]

On 28 April 1846, John W. Faulconer complained to the Superior Court of Law and Chancery of the County of Essex that Joseph B Smith executed to your orator bond for $115, due on 15 September 1843. The bond was assigned by your orator on 14 November 1843 to Thomas Croxton who assigned it on 1 January 1844 to a Richard Croxton by whom a suit was instituted. Dated 28 April 1846. In about 1850, orator George H. Dobyns complained to the Chancery Court. That in 1846, he and and Richard Croxton were merchants. Richard Croxton died in 1848 leaving a widow and five children to wit Frances G. Croxton, Thomas Croxton, Mary Farland, Susan F. Croxton, Margaret Ann Croxton and Richard Croxton, the three last named infants under the age of 21. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 41, item 41-D-5.]
